Our lab is proud to announce the publication of the monograph “Monograph of the genera Struthiopteris Scop. and Spicantopsis Nakai (Blechnaceae, Polypodiopsida),” co-authored by Sonia Molino, Guillermo Santos, Rubén Vázquez, Rafael Medina, and José María Gabriel y Galán. This study focuses on two genera within the Blechnaceae fern family, highlighting their distinct evolutionary histories and geographic distributions. By combining molecular evidence with detailed morphoanatomical analyses, the work provides a critical taxonomic revision, including identification keys, descriptions, taxonomic notes, and type designations for all species. Drawing from an extensive review of 1,649 herbarium specimens and digital records, the monograph sheds light on the diversity and geographic range of Struthiopteris and Spicantopsis. This comprehensive effort represents a significant step forward in understanding the taxonomy and distribution of these ferns, contributing valuable insights to fern systematics and global plant diversity
